The
province of Cadiz is situated at the southern most part of Spain.
Cadiz is part of Andalucia and includes the picturesque Costa de
la Luz.
The
southerly coastal plain rises up as you go inland and the northern
part of the province is bordered by the mountainous Sierras of Cadiz.
Winter
weather is much better for cycling than the arrid heat of high summer.
Being at one of the most southerly points of Europe, the winter
sun is surprisingly hot and the daylight hours are much longer than
in northern Europe. N.B. Sun cream is advised with strong protection
required for sensitive skins.
The softer winter warmth combined with occasional rainfall results
in a rich variety of wild flowers and green fields from November
onwards.
The beautiful scenery and clement weather are some of the reasons
why so many cyclists visit the area outside of mid summer. Groups
of German and Swiss cyclists are a common site on the quiet country
roads.
